When we love we tend to idealize our significant other. This is especially true for the period of being in love. Once the fireworks are gone, we get kind of sober and we start to see the little flaws, the annoying things that the other person does. What is forgivable in a relationship? Should we keep our priorities and standards high and refuse to accept small failure and disappointments. For me it’s pretty blatant.
Things you CAN NOT forgive (completely and utterly bad and a deal breaker):
- Being hit by a man. Yes, people like Rihanna are completely insane and masochist for believing they can change the aggressor. If your loved one hits you once and you stay, he will do it again.
- A man who curses, has an addiction, has a serious problem and refuses help. You won’t be his saviour. He will merely drag you down with him. Face it. And leave.
- A man who cheats, i.e. sleeps with another woman and you know he will do it again. Keep your dignity or what’s left of it and find a better man. Or buy a pet and stay single for a while.
- A man who offends you, treats you disrespectfully in front of your friends and offends them too. Despite your love for him, this is not boyfriend material. This is a man who hasn’t grown up and finds his confidence when putting others down. For the sake of your life and for the sake of your friends (who most surely despise him), don’t accept this.
- A man who never admits his faults and only blames you for everything in the relationship. For love to work you need someone who is cooperative, this is not a competition on who’s the best and who’s always right.
More or less for me these are the UNFORGIVABLE SINS, which shouldn’t be tolerated. Same goes for men as there are creepy, weird women out there who practise this behavior too.
